FreeBurma.org.uk is a private individual's effort to collate news about Burma from various sources around the world. My great grandmother was Burmese and I feel deeply for the people and the country as I watch the their fight for independence and democracy. I first visited in 1996 during visit Myanmar year not knowing the political situation there. Since then I have visited many times and have since fallen in love with the people and the country. Leaders like Daw Aung San Suu Kyi have had a positive impact on my life as I watch her give up everything for what she believes in. i have sat on the side lines for too many years and it now time for me to help the people of Burma. Burma's Secret War (aired on ABC 8/10/07)Evan Williams filmed chilling testimonies of murder, torture and intimidation by the Burmese regime. His report, "Burma's Secret War", not only details the junta's cruelty but also explains the desperation and anger that propelled monks and civilians onto the streets in recent days. "Burma's Secret War" aired on Britain's Channel 4 and, in a shorter version, on the ABC's Foreign Correspondent program last November.
